Manyi’s Cameroonian roots inspired her to go to Africa and Peace Corps allowed her to do so. Her service in Uganda, gave Manyi the opportunity to learn a lot about patience and resilience especially during the transition between pre-service training (PST) and her day-to-day life at site. Bucket baths, friendship bracelets, nailpolish and Uber rides have a special place in Manyi’s memories from service.
Manyi also faced some struggles with her partner organization, but that didn’t stop her from making the best of her time in her host country. Instead of dwelling on the frustrations, she found an opportunity to teach women about menstrual health and it soon became one of her passions as well as finding other organizations and activities that kept her very busy.
